MS2 Associates are Consultants in Membrane Filtration Systems Engineering
Design, engineering and consultancy services available to help you
evaluate membrane filtration technology, build a basic plant or implement
a large production plant project.
MS2 Associates is a group of engineers who have worked together for
many years in the field of cross flow membrane filtration. The associates
have the flexibility to review your project requirements either as a
team or as individuals as the situation demands.
Membrane Filtration Systems.
Associates have worked worldwide on over 150 membrane system projects
involving Reverse Osmosis, Nano-filtration, Ultra-filtration and Micro-filtration
in applications in Food, Brewery, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Water &
Effluent treatment. Equipment designed and built ranges from small pilot
plant to fully automated, DCS controlled multi-stage systems. We have
experience of most commercial configurations including spiral, tubular
and ceramic as well as flat sheet and hollow fibre.
Applications include:

Anti-biotic broth clarification.

Waste water recovery in food, pharmaceutical &
beverage industries.

Beer & cider clarification, tank bottoms recovery.

Dye-house effluent colour removal, water re-use.

Dairy; whey protein concentration, skimmed milk concentration,
yoghurt, quarg & fromage frais manufacture.
Associated Systems.
Whilst our work has been focussed on membrane systems it has necessarily
encompassed detailed design and installation of general and hygienic
fluids handling systems, usually in stainless steel. This has involved:

Pump and valve selection.

Piping systems design with flow and pressure drop
calculations.

Separation technologies; centrifugal, depth filtration
and ion-exchange.

Skid mounted package design and construction.
-
Associated electrical, control and civils work.
-
CIP (cleaning in place) systems.

A proportion of our current work does not involve
membrane systems but calls upon our capability in these complimentary
engineering fields.

We maintain good working relationships with manufacturers
of fluids handling components and skid & system builders which
we can make available for your benefit.

MS2 Associates - Capability.
MS2 Associates is a consultancy group specialising in design and engineering
projects with a bias towards membrane filtration equipment. The group
was formed in 2003 by three colleagues each having skills and knowledge
gained over many years working together in this field.
The services offered to both OEM and end-user clients are wide ranging
but fall into the following main areas:

Advice on applicability of membrane filtration to
a process and particular membrane selection.

Design and engineering of membrane filtration systems.

Commissioning, optimisation and troubleshooting of
existing plant.

Training of staff at all levels in the technology.
Specifically, MS2 Associates capabilities include:

likely membrane types for further evaluation.

Trials work – pilot plant studies at client’s

Full CAD services, including P&ID drawing &
development, General Arrangement, detailed manufacturing, electrical,
civil & layout drawings.

Procurement including contract negotiation if required.

Project management including scheduling, financial
tracking and reporting.

Risk assessment, HAZOP studies.

Site supervision.

Control and automation – including URS definition,
FDS, H/SDS and programming in a variety of PLC languages.

Troubleshooting.

Preparation and validation of manuals, documentation
and certification as required up to and including GAMP4 requirements.

Training of staff in membrane system technology.
OEM
MS2 Associates experience is available on an hourly basis to help you
when your in-house resources are stretched. Our experience of system
design and build will allow us to be up and running with your procedures
very quickly so that we can be effective immediately in executing your
project needs. You are able to “cherry pick” the services
you need from us to best suit your requirements and avoid the overheads
when the job is done.
MS2 Associates aim is to provide an “as required” service
to OEMs to offer a cost effective way of covering the peaks and troughs
in your business.
We are able to work from our own offices or at your preferred location.

End-User
We aim to offer the benefit of our experience in helping users and potential
users of cross-flow membrane systems gain a better understanding of
the technology. We can also assist in helping you evaluate the systems
available from different plant suppliers and help in implementing the
project for you.
We have no bias towards any particular membrane make or configuration
but are concerned to see the right system used for a particular application.
We can put together training programmes for your staff to give them
a better understanding of membrane technology.
