FOAMGLAS® Insulation
TEROSTAT PC is a factory pre-applied coating for FOAMGLAS®
cellular glass insulation which can greatly reduce site-installation
times and costs.
Designed originally for the severe requirements of liquefied-natural
gas piping applications (-161ºC), TEROSTAT PC is a permanent
highly weather-resistant and durable outer layer and jointing compound
suitable for a wide range of hot and cold applications. TEROSTAT
PC provides a continuous, seamless, factory-applied coating to ensure
an even and consistent thickness no matter how difficult the site
conditions. The system can also offer better fire and moisture protection
than PIR metal-jacketed systems.
TEROSTAT PC is a non-hardening silane-modified polymer which is
environmentally-friendly, non-hazardous, solvent-free, durable and
resistant to weathering and UV light.
TEROSTAT PC is an effective replacement for traditional mastic/fabric
coatings and even for stainless-steel cladding: as a result site
installation times for FOAMGLAS® systems are usually halved
when TEROSTAT PC is used.
The FOAMGLAS® insulation sections are delivered to the job
site pre-coated with TEROSTAT PC. Field application consists of
applying TEROSTAT PC to the joint faces, where it acts as a highly
flexible sealant and adhesive, fitting the sections and smoothing
over the joints. The procedure is identical to the method of sealing
joints on traditional insulation systems but ensures that the joints
form a single-product continuous bond with the outer finish.
The TEROSTAT PC bonds together and to the FOAMGLAS® insulation,
providing a continuous, seamless, highly-durable coating and seal.
This creates a continuous (seamless) barrier as well as a totally
monolithic insulation-barrier-sealant system, giving minimal on-site
labour times and a minimal number of accessories on site, as well
as the elimination of waste and job-site contamination.
FOAMGLAS® is made from 100% pure glass, expanded 20 times at
1000ºC, and contains no environmentally damaging CFCs, HCFCs,
HFAs or Pentane. Indeed, FOAMGLAS® offers outstanding environmental
benefits, being made from over 2/3 high-quality recycled glass (post-consumer
waste). Being a uniquely impermeable insulation material, FOAMGLAS®
suffers no reduction in insulating performance over decades of use,
again saving resources.
Effective in the temperature range -273ºC (absolute zero)
to +482ºC FOAMGLAS® is totally non-combustible, retarding
the spread of fire and emitting no toxic fumes or gases - it is
therefore the ideal insulation for improved fire safety in industrial,
pharmaceutical and oil and gas applications.
The FOAMGLAS® cellular glass / TEROSTAT PC insulation system
has been designed to offer the best technical and economic solution
for the insulation of pipe-work operating at a wide range of temperatures.
